Join this 8-week Historical Fiction critique group cohort built for intermediate and advanced writers — a small circle of 3–5 writers committed to showing up for each other. Every 2 weeks, members share 1 (up to 3,500 words), then exchange thoughtful, craft-focused feedback. Everything happens asynchronously in the portal, so you can read and respond on your own schedule. Because the cohort runs on a fixed 8-week schedule starting September 1, 2026, you get real accountability — plus 2-4 other perspectives on every submission, so feedback stays diverse instead of one-note. If you write Historical Fiction and you're ready to commit to a steady rhythm with a small, dedicated group, we'd love to have you in this cohort.

Enjoy a full refund if you cancel at least 14 days before the start date! You’ll also be fully refunded if we ever need to cancel the group due to low enrollment (under 3 writers).
How we define experience levels
Every writer’s path is unique, but to ensure you get the most out of this community, we categorize experience into three main stages:
- Beginner: You are taking the exciting step of writing your debut book.
- Intermediate: You are an experienced writer who has completed multiple manuscripts.
- Advanced: You have reached the milestone of being either published or represented by a literary agent.
Workload and participant expectations
Participants should ensure they have at least 2 hours to give for reading and critiquing each person's manuscript. Because this is a group of 3–5 people, this means you will be critiquing 2-4 people's work in each round. Writers should have at least 4–8 hours per round (every 2 weeks) available for your peers' stories. For each peer story, your overall feedback should be at least 250 words, plus inline notes. We've found that this format accelerates learning because you are able to read other writers' feedback on each story you have read and critiqued, which is just as beneficial to the learning from the feedback on your own work.
